Each Wednesday in September we’ll deal with REAL questions posed by our young people including: homosexuality & same sex marriage, Free-Thinking, Atheism vs. Creation, Science, Alcohol & Drugs.
People in the Bay Area often have the wrong idea of what God thinks about these issues, so we’ll Blow the Lid off of them and find out what He really thinks!

A Christian response to the killing of Osama bin Laden
“The Kingdom of God is Within You.” -Jesus
Recently, many people have asked me what I thought about the killing of Osama bin Laden. “Should we be happy?” or “Should we be upset?”
On one hand, his death appeals to the sense of justice that God put in each one of us… and I’m glad he won’t be terrorizing anymore.
On the other hand, it can reveal the ugly side of humanity – which is particularly ugly when death is celebrated by Christians.
I think this is a good response: If we celebrate the death of our enemy, then we deny the Christian faith and prove to the world that we serve the same god as our enemy.
Our perspective on life and death is different from God’s. Humans tend to be happy at the death of the wicked, but God isn’t happy. We as humans get upset and sad in the death of God’s servants – calling it tragic or “unfair.” But “Precious in the eyes of God is the death of Christians.”
We come from a different kingdom where our president is Jesus and we love our enemies. So the question should be, “how does the Kingdom of God deal with people like Osama bin Laden?”
Can you “bite your tongue?” The Bible says in James 3:8 that the tongue is a restless evil and that NO MAN can tame it! Our tongue actually creates the atmosphere around us. You probably remember the old saying, “sticks and stones can break my bones but names will never hurt me…” BUT, words are MUCH more painful than sticks and stones. People walk around in their 50′s and 60′s with wounds that were inflicted on them during childhood by the tongue of someone who they respected. People get fired from jobs because of their tongues. Wars are fought because of words. The Bible says that a whoever can tame their tongue is a “perfect person…” Is there someone who’s walking around the world wounded because of your words? Have you been wounded by someone’s words? God says to go and ask forgiveness if you have offended someone before you even try to get right with God. How have you been hurt or overcome the hurt that someone put on you? Or have you been the one to do the hurting? twitter @coreydrose corey@hilltopcommunitychurch.com -from a message shared by Pastor Corey at Hilltop Youth on May 11th, 2011

This is a video by one of our friends, Propaganda, who is a recording artist with humblebeast records, and a poet. Propaganda travels the country with his message of hope – much of which he gets from his grandma… He’ll be back live with us one of these days, but until then, check out this video of sheer Gospel awesomness.
